Wamfie (Bono), March 14, GNA – Mr Maxwell Mensah, the Dormaa East District Coordinating Director, has commended stakeholder for their financial support towards the successful celebration of the 68th Independence Anniversary in the District.
He said the Assembly appreciated the support of the traditional authorities, including Nana Asamoah Kum-Twie, Chief of Nsesresu as well some individuals in the area like Nana Agyemang, Mr Ernest Amponsah, and Mr Patrick Marfo.
Mr Mensah gave the commendation when speaking at a symposium organised by the NCCE to mark the Anniversary celebration at Wamfie, the district capital.
It was attended by various Heads of Departments, Assembly Members, security services and some interest groups.
“The Ghana Month initiative is dedicated to enable all to reflect on the country’s history, heritage, culture and tradition, and achievement as a nation”, Mr Mensah explained, saying as a district we set aside a day in the month of March to make staff appreciate the core principles and ideals upon which our entire communities exist”.
He said that “it obligatory for Ghanaians to strive to learn our language, tradition, values, norms and customs which emphasis on communal values such as traditional values and authority and importance of exhibiting proper social conduct and respect for the elderly”.
Mr Mensah said it was worrying that many Ghanaians did not know their tradition and customs and thereby contributing to the “adulteration of our culture and tradition” and appreciated the support the celebration received from individuals.
Baffour Kwadwo Damoah Afari, the Sanaahene (sub-chief) of the Dormaa Traditional Area, called on the assembly members to work collaboratively with traditional rulers to bring the holistic development of the district to the next level.
