Ofosu (O/R), March 22, GNA – A severe rainstorm accompanied by heavy winds has left a trail of destruction in the Ofosu community of Nkwanta South in the Oti Region, injuring three people, and displacing many residents.
The unexpected storm struck on Friday afternoon, catching residents off guard and causing widespread chaos.
The storm’s strong gusts of wind tore through the area, damaging several structures, including classrooms at the Ofosu M/A Basic School.
Roofs were ripped off, and windows were shattered, leaving the school’s infrastructure in shambles.
Mr Christian Ahiavi, the headteacher of Ofosu M/A Basic School, witnessed the storm’s fury firsthand.
He expressed his shock and fear, describing how the combination of heavy rain and strong winds ravaged the school’s buildings.
Mr Ahiavi voiced deep concern for the safety of both students and staff, emphasizing the urgent need for assistance.
He appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Nkwanta South Assembly, and well-meaning individuals to provide immediate support to help the community recover from the devastating storm.
The destruction caused by the rainstorm has disrupted essential services, leaving many residents without access to basic necessities.
