Ho (V/R), March 13, GNA – The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, has described the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy as a people-centered document focused on economic recovery and national progress.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Gunu emphasised that the budget, delivered by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, represents a decisive effort to reset the Ghanaian economy and place it on a trajectory of sustainable growth and prosperity for all.

One of the major highlights, he noted, was the removal of several burdensome taxes, a move that will provide much-needed relief to businesses and individuals.

This policy, he said, is expected to stimulate economic activity, enhance business confidence, and promote financial stability across the country.

Mr Gunu also commended the government for allocating GH¢200 million to support victims of the tidal wave disaster in Ketu South and GH¢242.5 million for those affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage.

These funds, he stressed, demonstrate the government’s dedication to providing relief and rebuilding communities devastated by these disasters.

Beyond disaster relief, he highlighted key allocations for infrastructure projects within the Volta Region, aimed at ensuring balanced national development.

“The budget also prioritizes job creation, infrastructure development, support for local industries, and social interventions that will uplift the livelihoods of Ghanaians,” he said.

Mr Gunu urged the people of the Volta Region to take full advantage of the initiatives outlined in the budget, as they present opportunities for growth and economic empowerment.
