Bibiani (WN/R), Mar 11, GNA – Madam Martha Nneka Opera, the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Director of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), has called on students to take keen interest in the study of the 1992 constitution.

She said the constitution should be seen as the master plan of the Nation’s democracy and all should endeavour to know its content in and out.

Madam Opera said this during a quiz competition organised by the commission for four selected basic schools in the Municipality.

The participating schools are Anglican JHS, Presbyterian JHS, Methodist JHS, and Catholic ‘A’ Junior High Schools.

The quiz competition formed part of a series of activities embarked by the NCCE to mark the country’s 68th Independence Day Celebration.

The quiz centred on the 1992 Constitution of Ghana to ensure students are conversant with the Constitution at their early age.

It was on the theme, ‘Ghana’s Future Our Collective Responsibility’

Madam Opera indicated that the competition was part of the Commission’s strategies to get students learn better the content of the 1992 Constitution, while having fun.

The NCCE Municipal Director used the opportunity to encourage students to embrace the use of the NCCE’s Ghana Constitution Game Board and tasked them to join the Civil Education Clubs in their respective schools.

She was confident that the quiz competition would go a long way to deepen their understanding of the constitution amongst students.

The Catholic ‘A’ JHS emerged winner with 78 points, followed by Presbyterian JHS with 75 points, Anglican JHS came third with 71 points and Methodist JHS got 65 points.

Each participating school received a certificate, exercise books, pens, and constitutional pocketbooks as a reward for participating in the competition.
