Ho, Feb 21, GNA – Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister has hinted of plans by the Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to stage a “Volta Development Dialogue,’ which is expected to fashion a blueprint for the accelerated socio-economic growth of the region.
He indicated that the expertise and sharp brains of people of the region both home and abroad would be harnessed to become the cornerstone of the area’s development enterprise.
The Minister gave the hint, when some executives of the Volta Development Forum (VDF), a pro-development entity paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Ho, Thursday.
He said his doors were opened for ideas and opportunities that would turn human capital and natural resources into fruitful ventures for job creation and rapid infrastructural development across the board.
Mr Gunu indicated “Volta must be the destination,” in all spheres, economically, tourism-wise, due to its varied potentials and look up to the corporate world, public and private set-ups, the traditional authorities, the youth, to galvanise support and add to the development wheel.
The Minister, who is upbeat about development in the region is desirous of seeing considerable change in the next three years and urged the people to be patient, while the government of President John Mahama delivers on his promises.

Dr Prince Kofi Kludjeson, President of VDF said the call was to congratulate him for his meteoric rise to the position of Minister and to assure him of VDF’s unwavering support.
M Daniel Agboka Dzegede, Executive Director of VDF told the Ghana News Agency, VDF’s overarching aim is to make the region a smart-state and believed their continuous partnership with the VRCC would optimise development of Volta’s human resources, targeting Regional economic prosperity.
Mr Richard Kasu, a member of the group called for finding Volta solutions to challenges emanating within the region especially chieftancy-related to foster accelerated development saying the region’s development must be a collective and deliberate activity.
VDF is envisioned for a peaceful Region with Sons and Daughters achieving success in their chosen vocations; a Region whose natural endowments, human resources and multiplicity of
assets are innovatively harnessed and deployed towards the creation and sustenance of a prosperous enclave.
