Northern Region elects Alhaji Muhammed Mumuni to Council of State

Alhaji Muhammed Mumuni, a 75 year-old former Minister of Foreign Affairs under President John Atta Mills, has been elected Member of the Council of State to represent the Northern Region.

He secured 26 votes out of the 32 votes to beat three other candidates in the Council of State elections held in Tamale on Tuesday.


Greater Accra elects Nene Drolor Bosso Adamtey I to Council of State

Nene Drolor Bosso Adamtey I has been declared winner of the Greater Regional Council of state elections. He polled 40 votes

Nene Adamtey, the winner, left the voting centre before the declaration.


Upper East elects Chiana Pio to Council of State

Chiana Pio, Pe Thomas More Ditundi Adiali Ayagitam III, Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area has been elected Upper East Regional Representative to the Council of State.

Pe Ayagitam III, who is also the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, polled 18 votes out 30 valid votes cast to beat six other candidates in the Council of State election held in Bolgatanga.


Central Region elects Habib Hakeem to Council of State

The 44-member Central Region electoral college in the Council of State election has elected Mr. Habib Hakeem, a 47-year-old miner, to the Council of State.


Greater Accra: Voting closes

Voting at the Greater Accra Regional Voting Centre has closed, and sorting of ballots has begun amid heightened security.

Tension brews at Greater Accra polling centre

Tension is brewing at the Graater Accra voting centre as EC temporarily suspends the exercise.

Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister for Local Government has asked the EC to suspend the exercise for “two minutes” to resolve some security concerns.

Musah Ziyad has also stepped down from the Graater Accra Regional contest, bringing to three, the number of aspirants who have stepped down.


Ashanti: Thugs disrupt Council of State polls

Thugs have attacked electoral officers and destroyed ballot papers during the counting of the ballots at the going Ashanti regional council of state elections at regional coordinating council.

Scores of people including journalists have been injured by the unknown thugs who invaded the polling station.


Western North NDC Chairman elected to the Council of State

Mr Micheal Aidoo, the Western North Regional Chairman of the NDC has been elected to the Council of State.

He secured 18 out of total 18 votes cast.


Greater Accra: Voting delays more than four hours

Voting at the Greater Region has delayed for more than four hours due to the late arrival of delegates.

“There should be no fights; let’s set a good example for Accra”, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, tells delegates.

Meanwhile, two aspirants: Obed Nyarko, and Albert Borketey Naawu, have announced their decision to step down.


Voting in the Council of State election is ongoing at the Central Regional Coordinating Council Banquet Hall, following an initial delay caused by delegate tardiness.

Contestants ramped up their campaigns during the period.


Thirty-three-year-old Dr. Maxwell Boakye has been elected Council of State member for the Western Region.

He polled 17 out the 28 total vote cast.


Accra, Feb 11, GNA – Polls opened at 0700 hours in the Council of State elections for the Greater Accra Region at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Conference Hall.

As of 0820 hours none of the 58 expected voters of the electoral college had shown up to cast their ballot.

Thirteen (13) persons are seeking to represent the Greater Accra Region on the Council of State.

They are:
