The Police arrest three over violent disturbances during football match at Nsoatre

Accra, Feb 3, GNA – The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested three individuals in connection with the violent disturbances that occurred Sunday, February 2, 2025, during the football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at Nsoatre in the Bono Region.

The incident resulted in the death of one person, a statement signed by Director of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, said.

The statement noted that suspects, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu, and Kyeremeh Joseph, were in Police custody assisting in the investigation.

It said, a search conducted in the room of suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu led to the retrieval of two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, had spoken to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football FC to express the condolences of the Police, the statement said.

He also assured the family and the Club of a thorough investigation into the matter

“A special team has been deployed from the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters to assist the Bono Regional Police Command in the investigation”. the statement added.
