Twifo Praso (C/R), Feb 04, GNA – Mrs Augustina Attakora, Twifo Ati Morkwa District Director of Education, has admonished parents to allow their wards to explore and develop their unique God-given talents to secure their future.

She made this remarks during the unveiling of a magnificent statue in front of the Administration Block of the Twifo Praso Senior High School.

The statue of male and female students reading a book, which depicts the importance of education, was carved by the visual arts department of the school.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Attakora urged parents to refrain from interfering with their ward’s passion for their innate talents and instead, provide guidance and support to help nurture their talents.

“As parents, its natural to want the best for our children, but sometimes our intentions can stifle their creativity and potential,” Mrs Attakora noted.

Mr Kweku Ampomfi, Visual Arts tutor and brain child of the statue, sold the idea to management of the school who embraced it and solicited for funds to have it executed.

He said the rationale for the monumental statue estimated at GH¢35,000 was to inspire students to strive for excellence.

He stressed that values such as resilience, determination and passion for learning must be instilled into students.

He was grateful to Ms Erica Ansah, a Form two student, and all the Visual Arts students, who helped him to carve the beautiful edifice.

Mr Daniel Aidoo, headmaster of the school, observed that the Visual Arts course was not for average students as perceived by some people and advised parents to allow their wards pursue the course as numerous opportunities like venturing into architecture, awaits them.

He urged students pursuing the course to do so with passion, to enable them acquire more knowledge to face the world of work.
