Accra, Feb 08, GNA – Captain of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Royal Ladies, Elizabeth Opoku has made a passionate appeal to the Ghana Revenue Authority and the government to provide jobs for unemployed players in the team.
She said in as much as they are proud of their achievements over the years, their real joy as a team is to see all players gainfully employed to highly boost their spirits and moral to continually give their best on the field.
Elizabeth Opoku who led her team to keep their continental status in the just ended Africa Cup for Club Championship in Ismaila, Egypt mentioned this in an exclusive interview with GNA Sports on their arrival on Saturday.
“We are happy to have won the competitor and keep our title but as captain, my real joy and happiness is to see the junior players and unemployed players get employed.
“I am appealing the government through the Sports Minister Hon. Kofi Adams who wished us well in our final game, and authorities at the Ghana Revenue Authority to find ways to get these ladies employment.
“They want to learn how to fish and not given fish and that will be the best reward they will appreciate after defending this trophy for four consecutive times,” she said.
At the end of the tournament, GRA’s Vivian Narkour emerged as best player and top scorer of the tournament with 13 goals while Matilda Addison was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament. The Royal Ladies won the tournament after winning all five matches.
