Kiel, Germany, Feb 4, (dpa/GNA) – A fire broke out on a German train, after an elderly man used a gas stove to make a coffee, police said on Monday.
The incident on Sunday saw a 76-year-old attempt to brew himself a coffee on a train, between the northern cities of Hamburg and Kiel.
The man placed the gas cooker on his suitcase, which subsequently caught fire and produced smoke.
Passengers pulled the emergency brake and alerted federal police, with one man able to smother the flames with a fire extinguisher.
On arrival in Neumünster, officers detained the 76-year-old, who was taken to hospital in an ambulance due to injuries.
