Paris, Feb 4, (dpa/GNA) – A Paris court on Monday, handed down a four-year sentence to French director Christophe Ruggia, for the sexual abuse over several years, of child actress Adèle Haenel.
Two years have been suspended, and the other two will be served under house arrest with electronic tagging.
Ruggia’s lawyer said her client would appeal, the public broadcaster France 24 reported.
Haenel, who is now 35, accused Ruggia of touching her repeatedly while filming “Les Diables” (The Devils), which was released in 2002. She was 12 at the start of filming.
The court ruled than Ruggia, now 60, should not be allowed to work with minors for a period of five years.
In making her allegations in 2019, Haenel helped set France’s MeToo movement in motion.
