Defence Minister pledges more accommodation, logistics for GAF

Accra, Feb 4, GNA – Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the newly appointed Minister of Defence, has pledged to address the numerous accommodation and logistical challenges faced by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The Defence Minister promised to work assiduously to deal with the accommodation deficit within the military and initiate procurement deals aimed at boosting its infrastructure.

Dr Omane Boamah said this when General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and other Service Chiefs, paid a courtesy call on him at the ministry.

He commended the Military High Command for working seriously to maintain a peaceful atmosphere, free from violent extremism and terrorism.

The CDS, on his part, pledged his loyalty and readiness to work with the Minister to keep the country’s territorial integrity safe by land, sea and air.

The visit served as an opportunity to congratulate the minister on his new role, which began on Monday, February 3, 2025.

Present at the meeting were Mr Lawoetey Tettey, the Chief Director, Ministry of Defence, Lt Gen Joseph Prince Osei Owusu, the Chief of Staff, GAF, and Air Commodore Edward Kwasi Gyamfi, Principal General Staff Officer at the Ministry.
