Kete-Krachi (O/R), Jan 14, GNA – Students of Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region have been seen flocking to the Kete-Krachi lorry station, seeking transportation to their respective schools.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) had announced January 3, 2025, as the reopening date for SHSs nationwide.

However, several students in and around the Krachi West Municipality are now making their way to school due to financial challenges.

A first-year student from Borae, (name withheld), who attends Hohoe EP Senior High School (HEPSS), told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that financial difficulties caused her delay.

“The money needed to buy the items on the prospectus is huge. My parents are farmers, so we have to work hard on the farm to raise the funds,” she explained.

Similarly, a student from Worawora Senior High School expressed gratitude despite the delay.

“We know we’re late, but it wasn’t our fault. We thank God we are finally going to school today,” the student said.

As of now, more than 30 students were spotted at the lorry station, all eager to begin their academic journey despite the late start.
