Presidential Inauguration: Mahama urged to leave a legacy for future generations

By Emmanuel Gamson

Takoradi, Jan. 07, GNA – Some residents in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have urged President John Dramani Mahama to use his term of office, to leave a legacy that will benefit future generations.

Reacting to his investiture as the Sixth President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, they said President Mahama must take advantage of the unique opportunity granted him by Ghanaians to work assiduously and bring prosperity to the people.

Mr Bismark Ayiku, a resident, told the GNA that: “We expect the President to lead Ghana in a way that will ensure future generations will remember him for his good works.”

He said the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) government should fulfil its promises of implementing strategic policies that would bring economic growth and development to the citizenry.

He noted that in the President’s inaugural speech, he talked about economic restoration, improvement in the business environment, governance and constitutional reform, as well as accountability and the fight against corruption, as his key areas of focus.

“I must say that these are all we are looking forward to, and hope that he delivers on them to reset the country as he says,” Mr Ayiku noted.

Madam Comfort Botwey, another resident, shared similar views, and prayed for God to grant President Mahama the wisdom and strength to build a better Ghana for all.

She asked him to serve with humility and ensure that the overwhelming endorsement given to him by Ghanaians in the 2024 election translated into socio-economic development for the citizenry.
