Gomoa (C/R), Jan 23, GNA – Fishermen at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region say Outboard motor boats have contributed significantly to the development of fishing.

Outboard motor is a propulsion system for boats consisting of self-contained unit that includes engine, gearbox and propeller or jet drive designed to be affixed to the outside of transom.

Speaking to the media after a documentary showed, Mr. Dadzie Agyeman one of the Fishermen said “in this 21st century, harbor motors had become the major tool for the trade.”

He said few years to come outboard motor boats would overtake the fishing industry, leaving behind the old ways and that in the 70s there was nothing like harbor motor to facilitate fishing.

He said, “We had to paddle our canoes with our own strength, which came with many challenges which led to the loss of lives because paddling for hours without rest or food often took a heavy toll.”

Nana Abor Atta II, the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh and Twafohen of Gomoa Asin Traditional Council commended the Leoparshma Foundation for the documentary showed.
