Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation and partners present 2,500 reading and other books to some schools in Kumasi

Kumasi Jan 27. GNA – The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in partnership with Adwinsa Publications Ghana Limited, have presented 2,500 pieces of reading books to some schools in Kumasi.

This is to help support the efforts of promoting reading among school children.

The presentation formed part of activities marking the celebration of the International Day of Education, which was under the theme “Preserving Human Agency in a world of automation and AI Education.”

Nana Professor Oheneba Boakye Agyei Woahene II, Board Chair of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, speaking at the ceremony, called for the preservation of the distinctiveness of human agencies.

He said education that transcended technical skills needed to be enhanced.

He said the Foundation had been proactive in this direction with the introduction of the Otumfuo Mobile Learning project, which emphasized on literacy education.

He said technology needed to serve humanity rather than humanity serving technology.

The Board Chair reaffirmed the commitment of the Foundation to ensure quality and accessible education for all by 2030.

Mr. Kwaku Amponsah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adwinsa Publications, said reading could enable one to become the best version of him or herself.

He said education was a powerful tool that also brought development and granted the power to change the future and solve challenges in the society.

Mr Amponsah advised the children to take advantage of the many opportunities being given to them by the government and other stakeholders, to climb higher on the education ladder to enable them to contribute positively to nation building.

Mr. Thomas Kwame Boateng, Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of Education, said education was the bedrock of human development and offered the ability to adapt to change society.

He added that, technology should serve humanity and not replace it and called for the preparation of the present generation to master technology to benefit humans.
