Dambai (O/R), Jan. 27, GNA – A coordinated dawn operation in Dadiase, a farming community under the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, has resulted in the arrest of 64 individuals in connection with the renewed clashes.
The clashes had claimed over six lives and several properties were destroyed.
The latest crackdown is part of a broader effort to restore peace and order at the Nkwanta township, which has been plagued by ethnic violence and unrest.
The operations, which began on Sunday morning, are in response to escalating tensions that have affected Nkwanta and its surrounding communities.

Information available to the Ghana News Agency indicated that, approximately 115 individuals have been arrested since the recent gun attacks began, and among those arrested, 51 have been granted bail, while the remaining 64 individuals are being held for further investigations.
Residents have expressed satisfaction with the swift action taken by the joint security operatives, hoping that these measures would help quell the unrest and foster dialogue among the conflicting parties.
During a visit to the Nkwanta South by the National Security Coordinator, DCOP Abdul Razak Osman, he reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure safety and stability in the area, urging all to engage in peaceful negotiations.
