Accra, Jan 07, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has maintained its current leadership team in Ghana’s Ninth Parliament, with Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, assuming the role of Majority Leader.
This decision, made during an NDC Caucus meeting following the dissolution of the Eighth Parliament, demonstrates the party’s confidence in its existing leadership.
Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP of Ellembelle, will serve as Deputy Majority Leader, while Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza, MP, Adaklu, has been appointed Majority Chief Whip.
Others are Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, MP of Banda, Deputy Chief Whip, and Madam Comfort Doyoe Gansah, MP of Ada, Second Deputy Whip.
The NDC’s decision to retain its leadership team followed the President-elect, Mr John Dramani Mahama’s recommendation, in consultation with the NDC Council of Elders, to nominate Mr Alban Bagbin as Speaker for the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
Speaker Bagbin’s re-nomination has been widely praised, given his unifying presence in the Legislature.
The NDC’s leadership team is poised to play a crucial role in navigating the challenges of the upcoming parliamentary term, and their retention is seen as a strategic move to ensure continuity and stability in governance and within the party.
