Koforidua, Jan. 3, GNA – Mr. Francis Ayensu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Elections Director for New Juaben South has expressed optimism about President John Dramani Mahama’s upcoming administration commitment to govern with a streamlined cabinet of only 60 ministers.

During the 2024 election campaign, Mr. Mahama pledged to streamline government operations and cutting inefficiencies by reducing the number of ministers, which had ballooned to about 120 in the outgoing administration.

The move to run a lean government, Mr. Ayensu believed would facilitate more effective collaboration and governance, remaking that; “It’s time to reset Ghana.”

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at a social gathering dubbed “The Victory Party” in Koforidua, Mr. Ayensu stressed the importance of learning from past mistakes and that leadership was committed to improving communication from the grassroots level within the party.

“The victory party” commemorated the NDC’s resounding success in the just ended December 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Addressing the issue of rivalries between the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party, he acknowledged that teasing and banter have historically been part of the political landscape.

However, he affirmed that the NDC leadership has called for a halt to this behaviour, encouraging a more positive relationship with the purpose of improving the standard of living for all Ghanaians.

Mr. Selasi Amuzu, the New Juaben South Constituency Chairperson of the NDC, also took the opportunity to commend the media for its fair and balanced coverage before and during the elections.

He urged journalists to continue to uphold integrity and professionalism in their reporting, emphasizing the vital role that responsible journalism plays in shaping public perception and ensuring that the truth prevails in political discourse.

He noted that by adhering to high ethical standards media professionals could contribute to a more informed electorate and foster trust within the community, enhancing democratic values and encouraging transparency in governance, and guaranteeing nation building and peace and unity.

He stated that the NDC was committed to effective governance and community relations, which would mark a new chapter for the party as President Mahama prepared for his second term of office on January 7, 2025.

The gathering was filled with jubilation as members celebrated what they hoped would be a new chapter for the NDC and the New Juaben South Constituency.
