MoSAAG holds awards and dinner night for its members

Accra, Jan 6, GNA-The MoFCOM Scholars Alumni Association of Ghana (MoSAAG-former Students of China) held a glamour awards, dinner and handing over ceremony for its members. 

The event held on Saturday night was to appreciate the efforts of Chinese Old Students for their contributions to the success of the association. 

Mr. Sualah Yzid Zougrana the outgoing President, Mr. Li Yaohong, Chinese Economic and Commercial Consular were among the awardees of the framers of the association’s constitution. 

Mr. Zougrana in his address thanked the association for giving him the opportunity to serve as their leader, adding “I want to thank the lord almighty for bringing us this far, it is an honour to serve this association. I also want to appreciate the Chinese Embassy of the Economic and Commercial section for helping us since its inception for giving us the necessary funding to support our activities.” 

He said the outgoing executives had done a lot for the development of the association and therefore, he encouraged the incoming executives to continue where they have stopped. 

“We have been able to put all the necessary and the needed foundation that association would need to survive on its own, now the power is in the incoming executives to take advantages of what we have done to help the association grow beyond what it is today.” 

Adding that, “an association like this should not underestimate its members because the membership comprises intellectuals like managers, directors, politicians among others.” 

Mr. Leonard Edem Cosmos, President of MoSAAG also expressed gratitude to the members for their confidence and trust they reposed in him to service as their leader. 

He said, “I want to assure all of us that I will serve the best interest of MoSAAG and also, I want to thank our outgoing executives for the good work.” 

He said there was a lot of activities coming onboard and urged members to support each other when the need arises. 

Mr. Li Yaohong, Chinese Economic and Commercial Counselor said there was a mutual relationship between Ghana and China and the event was an opportunity for China to deepen their relationship with Ghana.   

He said there was cultural similarities between the two countries especially respect for the elderly. “As Ghanaians continue to study in China the friendship must increase and support the alumni.”
