Adaklu Kodzobi (V/R), Jan. 5, GNA – Reverend Richard Mawufemor Agbi, in-charge of the Global Evangelical Church, (GEC) Kingdom Life Chapel at Adaklu Kodzobi Sunday stated that moral values have become scarce commodities in the Ghanaian society.
“Values like faithfulness, truthfulness, loyalty, courage and vigilance among others are no longer part of the values our forebears cherished so much,” he said.
Rev. Agbi noted that this was so because these virtues, especially demand for accountability were misconstrued as disrespect and attack on elders and those in leadership positions.
He stated this in a sermon he preached to mark the first Sunday of the year at the GEC, Kingdom Life Chapel at Adaklu Kodzobi in the Adaklu district.
It was taken from 2 Timothy 4: 1 – 5 and Psalm 67: 6 – 8 on the theme “preach the word: the charge to keep.”
Rev. Agbi stated that vigilance, courage, and demand for accountability especially by the youth were not vandalism and urged the citizenry to strive to develop these virtues for the betterment of the country.
“These are Christian virtues and values we should exercise in the discharge of our duties as parents, children, employees and employers, and political, religious and traditional leaders,” he said.
Rev. Agbi noted that for Ghana to change positively and develop faster “all of us must be faithful and loyal, serve the country with all our strengths and hearts as our Civic responsibility wherever we are called to serve.”
Rev. Agbi intimated that the time has come for Ministers of the gospel to use the pulpit to rebuke, encourage and correct the ills in society by preaching the unadulterated word of God rather than using it to preach prosperity messages and creating fear and panic among the people.
“Let us use the word of God to admonish even those in positions of authority to refrain from fleecing the country rather than rallying them and getting their attention for our parochial and selfish interests.
“It is an abomination to be using the Bible not as our standard of living as Christians but for exploitation of the innocent and vulnerable in society,” Rev. Agbi stated.
He asked Ghanaians to pray, sacrifice a little, unite and join hands to build the country.
