Accra, Jan. 23, GNA – Mr. John Kofi Ansah has been elected the new chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) for the next four years.

In a keenly contested race, Mr. Ansah polled 96 votes out of the 131 valid votes cast, leaving his contender, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, with only 35 votes.

For the vice-chairman position, Madam Phyllis Marku Moncar won the race with 94 votes, edging her closest contender, Nana Amankwaa Kwakye, who polled 39 votes.

Madam Marku, therefore, becomes the first woman to assume the vice-chairman position of GHALCA, the mother body of all clubs in the country.

For the men’s Premier League representative spot, Bibiani Gold Stars’ Fred Tidan emerged the winner, edging out Joseph Nkoo of Asante Kotoko and Abdul Rahman Yakubu from Vision FC.

Unopposed candidates for this year’s election were incumbent treasurer Patrick Martey Boye, Eric Opoku for Division One League, and Gabriel Godwin Kwao for regional clubs.
