Abide by the rules and regulations governing transition – Rev. Dr. Dzanku

By Emmanuel Nyatsikor

Ho, Jan. 18 GNA – Reverend Dr. Lawson Kwaku Dzanku, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Saturday called on all Ghanaians to abide by the rules and regulations governing transition.

He said this would help promote harmony, social cohesion, and accelerated development of the country.

Rev. Dr. Dzanku made the call in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency in Ho in reaction to reported cases of seizures, forceful take-overs, and destruction of some public and private properties in the country after the recent general elections.

He noted that it was unacceptable for a few people to hide under the cover of darkness to perpetuate these clandestine activities.

Rev. Dzanku said public funds were heavily invested to erect such structures for various uses for the good of the country.

“It is therefore not right for any individual or group of people under any circumstances to destroy such structures whether it is for an individual or the state,” he stated.

The Clerk said perpetrators of such hideous crimes should be smoked out and made to face the full rigorous of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

He noted that these unfortunate incidents began immediately after the 2016 general elections when party foot soldiers took the law into their own hands to destroy structures without any rebuke from the authorities.

“The authorities then, looked unconcerned and seemed to endorse this barbaric attitude,” he stated.

Rev. Dr. Dzanku said when this was not seen as evil enough to be frowned upon, the other side also thought it wise to go the same tangent after the elections.

He called on the authorities to nib these unfortunate developments in the bud before it became a bad tradition in the country.

“As people governed by laws, let us allow the laws and institutions of the country to work.

“Let our conscience guide and direct us to do the good things we are supposed to do for the progress and development of the country,” he advised.
