Voting progresses in Okere Constituency

Okere, Dec 07, GNA – Voting is underway in the Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region where 35,049 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots in 97 polling stations.

In the parliamentary elections, Mr. Daniel Nana Addo – Kenneth is contesting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP); Mr. Prince Henry Anim – Wiredu, for the National Democratic Congress (NDC); and Mr. Joseph Kwadwo Afari – Yeboah, is representing the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

As of midday when GNA visited several polling stations in the constituency, many voters had already cast their ballots while others were trooping in to vote.

At the Adukrom Social Centre, one of the polling stations, 51 had voted out of 339; at the Agyekere Durbar Grounds Polling Station, 63 out of 437 had already voted, and at the Methodist Chapel Square one of the polling stations at Adukrom, 124 persons had cast their ballot out of the 393 registered voters and 95 out of 335 at the Chapel Square Polling Station Two.

Voting began at 0700 hours, and no challenge has been encountered so far.

Security officials and party agents were being represented at the polling stations.

There are no queues so far and the process is smoothly progressing.

Meanwhile, Mr. Addo-Kenneth, the NPP Candidate and District Chief Executive of the area has expressed satisfaction with the voting process.
