Ho, Dec 20, GNA-The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) Basic School in Ho has marked its fourth annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols as part of the Christmas celebrations.
This event has been an integral part of the school’s activities since its establishment in 2021 by the University.
In his welcome address, Mr. Seth Korgah, Head of the School, explained that many subjects taught at the school include discussions about festivals, making the celebration a practical demonstration of one of the most significant religious events of the year.
He emphasised that as a religious people, it was essential for educational policymakers to include teachings on the three main religions in the curricula of both pre-tertiary and tertiary institutions.
This aligns with the school’s belief that Christmas symbolizes God’s gift of Christ to humanity.
To extend this spirit of giving, the school management and learners donated clothing, foodstuffs, toiletries, and cash to children at the Ho Municipal Hospital.
The learners actively participated in the event by leading carols, reading lessons, and performing choreography, drama, and other entertaining activities.
A highlight of the festival was a drama presentation depicting the birth of Jesus Christ, which delighted the audience.
Rev. Benony Korku Hlomatsi from the E.P. Church Healing Centre at Akoefe Avenui delivered the Christmas message, encouraging the students to embrace the principles of life and live as exemplary Christians.
The event was filled with joy and excitement, as parents joined in the celebration, participating in the reading of lessons and cheering on the learners’ performances.
The festival showcased the vibrant spirit of the UHAS Basic School community and their commitment to celebrating the true essence of Christmas.
