Assin Bereku (C/R), Dec.2, GNA – the special voting exercise commenced smoothly at the Assin North Constituency of the Central Region with about 285 eligible voters expected to cast their ballots.
Mrs Comfort Christabel Okai, the District Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that voting started 0700 hours soon after the arrival of the materials.
The exercise allows eligible voters involved in election related duties, including electoral officials, media practitioners and security personnel to cast their ballot.
Mrs Okai noted that at the end of the polls, the ballots would not be counted but would be added to the main election on December 7 at the constituency collation centre.
At Winneba, 2,271 voters are expected to cast their ballots in the special voting at the Police Command and Staff College.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mrs Stephanie Obeng-Darko, the Effutu Director of the EC, stated that polls started at 0700 hours with all the materials in place.
The National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party were represented while security officers were present to ensure law and order.
