Nyankumasi Ahenkro (C/R), Dec.07, GNA- Voting started at 0700 hours in the Central Region with some polling centres beginning on a very low note, while others are brisk with large numbers of voters in the queue.

At Nyankumasi Ahenkro Post Office ‘A’ in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency, a total of 534 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots, but as of 0700 hours there was no security presence, even though the numbers were large.

Mr Daniel Bubu Sallah, the Presiding Officer, said voting would continue while awaiting a security personnel to be detailed.

All materials arrived on time and voting started at 0700 hours, however at Post Office Polling Station ‘B’, voting started at 0716hours , he said.

That was due to a misunderstanding between the party agents demanding the Polling Officer filled a ‘start of polls sheet’  for both the parliamentary and presidential before the commencement of polls.

However, Mr Joseph Nyankson,  Polling Officer, said the issue had been resolved with voters casting their ballots.

A total of 534 eligible voters to cast their ballots at the polling station, which had security detail.

At Abura Dunkwa Pentecost “B”, the biometric verification device was interchanged with another polling station’s, thereby delaying the start of the exercise, however, it started at 0725hrs when the anomaly was rectified.

Mr Martin Kwasi Adofo, the Presiding Officer, said 390 eligible voters with one proxy were expected to partake in the exercise.

Turn out had been massive with a smooth process at the Mankessim Anglican Church polling station, where 20 of the 514 expected voters had cast their ballots.

Voting, however, delayed for some few minutes due to the late arrival of electoral materials .

Security is tight and EC officials are busily taking voters through the processe.
