Accra, Dec. 10, GNA – The National Council of Zongo Chiefs (NCZC) has congratulated Mr. John Dramani Mahama, President-elect of the Republic of Ghana, following his victory in the recent polls.
The Council expressed appreciation for his successful, incident-free campaign, which focused on issues rather than personal attacks.
They also extended gratitude to Ghanaians for peacefully exercising their civic duty and for the confidence placed in the former president.
In a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday in Accra, the Council also congratulated Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia for running a successful and vigorous campaign, free from insults and attacks.
“Again, we thank him for calling his political opponent to concede defeat… It really shows a sign of maturity and true statesman in accepting defeat before the Electoral Commission comes with the final declaration.”
The Council expressed deep gratitude on behalf of Ghanaians to both gentlemen, stating, “Ghana has won, and we are very proud to be a beacon of democracy for many countries.”
It further thanked Almighty Allah for granting peace to the nation, calling it a clear indication of Allah’s mercy and grace upon Ghana.
“To all stakeholders who made sure we had a successful election, the Council salutes you, and commits to help the President elect in building the Ghana we want,” the statement said.
