Akatsi South: 32 eligible voters failed to show up during Special Voting exercise

Akatsi (VR), Dec. 3, GNA- A total of 32 eligible voters, who registered to take part in the just-ended Special Voting Exercise have failed to show up. 

Out of the total number of 305 Special Voters, some 273 persons have cast their ballots at the end of polls at 17 hours on Monday, December 2. 

This was revealed by Mrs Akorfa Buabasah Asamoah, the Akatsi South Municipal Electoral Officer after the exercise had come to a successful end. 

The exercise, which allowed election officials, security personnel, and media practitioners to cast their ballots ahead of the upcoming December polls, would be counted during the general elections. 

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed a calm atmosphere from the commencement of the exercise, which was held at the Akatsi Police Station. 

Some voters the GNA engaged, expressed satisfaction about the process and commended the EC for ensuring a smooth process without any technical hitch. 

Mr Cosmos Atikpo, an Akatsi-based radio presenter who took part in the exercise, told the GNA that Monday’s exercise was proof of the EC’s readiness for the main elections. 

Some security experts, who spoke on condition of anonymity, assured Ghanaians of a peaceful task ahead. 

As of 1700 hours on Monday, no eligible voter was seen in a queue waiting to vote. 

The December 7 exercise would offer the opportunity to all eligible voters to elect a President and 276 Members of Parliaments across the various constituencies in the country.
