Obuasi (Ash), Dec. 28, GNA – As part of efforts to improve service delivery, the AGA Health Foundation (AGAHF) in Obuasi is set to unveil a Computerized Tomography (CT) scan facility and an Endoscopy unit in the second quarter of 2025.

Over the years, patients who require advanced diagnostic services for various medical conditions in Obuasi are compelled to travel to Kumasi or Accra to access these critical services.

This, according to the Executive Director of AGA Health Foundation, Dr. Kwadwo Anim, puts families of such patients in uncomfortable situations including travelling risks.

Dr. Anim in an interview said the provision of CT scan and endoscopy services were imminent since Obuasi was fast growing with increasing demand for such services especially with the provision of specialised care including intensive care services.

He said once completed and fully operational, it would go a long way to minimise referrals, alleviate the plight of patients and families and improve healthcare for the community.

According to him, there was a tremendous improvement in the hospital’s 2024 performance but was quick to add that there was still room for improvement.

He said the facility strived for excellence and would continue to render quality healthcare services to the community.

Dr. Anim also hinted that one key area AGA Health Foundation sought to improve in 2025 was to place more emphasis on staff development and customer service.

“We believe that when staff have the right trainings and career development, they will be able to deliver the required services to the people who seek our services,” he noted

The AGA Health Foundation, a Sustainable Development Unit of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, is one of the largest referral hospitals in Ashanti Region with bed capacity exceeding 150.

In the last four years, AGA Health Foundation, set out to retool and improve their services to meet the demands of the community and institutions they serve.

The hospital has added a 24-bed capacity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as state-of-the-art eye care and dental units.

With the recruitment of other specialists, AGA Health Foundation currently runs comprehensive specialist services in internal medicine, emergency medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, and family medicine.
