Youth Orchestra to serenade audience at National Theatre, Dec. 5

Accra, Nov. 26, GNA – A group of young people forming the Youth Orchestra, are set to serenade audience with soothing classical music at the National Theater on December 5, 2024.

Their performance follows a training in classical music, organised by the National Symphony Orchestra, a resident performing group of the National Theatre, in partnership with KGL Foundation, a Ghanaian company.

Over 20 young people aged 15-30 participated in eight months comprehensive training in orchestral instruments, music theory and performance techniques.

The initiative aimed to provide young musicians from underserved communities access to high quality music education, mentorship and performance opportunities.

It also sought to empower young musicians and “foster a love for classical music”, while impacting the lives of the youth and the community at large.

The programme was led by experienced music educators in the National Symphony Orchestra who provided guidance, mentorship and support to the young musicians.

Organisers say guests would be treated to a variety of “calming melodies that can alleviate stress and anxiety”.”

The final performance would take place at the Exhibition Hall of the National Theatre on at 6pm prompt on Dember 5.

KGL Foundation which, among other things, is dedicated to supporting arts education, has specialised business units that “promote efficient solutions and effective tech-based related services to customers across Ghana and partner operating regions.”
