Cape Coast, Nov. 07, GNA – President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the eligible voters in the Central Region to vote in large numbers to bestow upon the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a resounding victory in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Empowered by the party’s fulfilled campaign pledges, policies, and initiatives across the region, President Akufo-Addo emphasised the importance of the electorate reciprocating this honour by maintaining the party in power.

Speaking at a stakeholder meeting in Cape Coast on Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo regretted that the party in 2020, could not secure the 19 seats of the 23 seat it had in the 2016 elections.

The consequence, he said had been a challenge for him in Parliament, hence, “let us strive to reclaim those 19 seats this time around.”

Thanking the people for supporting his tenure of office, he reminded them of what he called the “flip-flopping” antics and ploys of the Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the NDC and his cohorts.

The President criticized the NDC Flagbearer, questioning why he, unlike other sitting Presidents, was denied the chance for a second term in office.

He pondered the implications of his return to power, saying it would hinder progress and lead to the impoverishment of the people.

“You were rejected for your second bid to rule Ghanaians, so what are you coming to do? Ghanaians know your tenure was a monumental failure, that is why they rejected you.

“We have seen your handiworks, and we are not impressed, so remain at bay. Ghana needs progress, not a flip-flopping leader,” President Akufo-Addo said as the party folks echoed their election slogan: “It is possible.”

Taking a further dig at the NDC’s primary campaign policy of the “24-Hour Economy,” President Akufo-Addo mocked the NDC Flagbearer’s explanation of it, describing it as a “discotheques.”

He questioned why the Kumasi Brewery, which used to operate 24 hours with an eight-hour shift system, three shifts a day, could not sustain but eventually ceased it in Kumasi during his presidency.

The President said the NDC administration’s years of energy crisis reflected a lack of competence that would not bode well for a potential return to power.

For that matter, he indicated, the current political and developmental landscape of Ghana necessitated reliable, faithful, and committed leader like Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer as he extolled his virtues.

Regarding the upcoming election, President Akufo-Addo reiterated government’s unwavering dedication to ensuring that the election was conducted peacefully, transparently and with utmost regard for the democratic rights of all Ghanaians.

He underscored Ghana’s longstanding reputation as a shining example of democracy on the African Continent and stressed the collective responsibility to preserve this legacy for future generations.
