Accra, Nov. 20, GNA – President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Mr Herbert Krapa as the substantive Minister of Energy, effective November 19, 2024.
The appointee has served as the Minister of State at the Ministry since July 15, this year.
A statement issued by the Communications Directorate, Office of the President, said Mr Krapa’s appointment was in recognition of his hard work and leadership qualities.
“The President is confident that Mr Krapa will continue to distinguish himself in his new role, ensuring the continued growth and transformation of the energy sector in service to the nation,” the statement noted.
Until assumption of his new role, he was in charge of the day-to-day running of the Ministry, while Mr Abu Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, exercised Cabinet oversight responsibility over the sector.
This was necessitated by the resignation of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo), from his position as the Energy Minister on July 18, this year, after he was named as the New Patriotic Party’s Vice Presidential Candidate for the December 7 Elections.
President Nana Akufo-Addo acknowledged Mr Krapa’s demonstration of exceptional diligence, professionalism and steadfast commitment to his duties, contributing significantly to the progress and stability of Ghana’s energy sector.
