Bibiani (WN/R), Nov. 20, GNA – The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), has organised a training workshop on electoral process for first-time voters in two schools within the Western North Region.
The workshop, organised in partnership with the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), with funding support from the US Embassy in Ghana, was at Bibiani Senior High School, and College of Health and Allied Sciences at Sefwi Anhwiaso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality.
Dubbed: “Youth Voice-Activating First-Time Voters for Ghana’s General Elections,” the engagement sought to equip participants with the needed knowledge to achieve free, fair, accountable, transparent, and inclusive electoral process in the upcoming elections.
Mr Bright Ayivi, the Assistant Programme Officer at GII, encouraged the students to actively participate in the 2024 general elections, saying voting was a vital part of the country’s democratic process.
He asked them not to allow themselves to be influenced by any political party leader but vote with integrity to ensure the right people were elected to office.
Mr Prince Amoako Baah, the Electoral Officer for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal, took the students through the electoral process, particularly when voting would start and ends, the importance of voting, and the right voting procedure to reduce number of rejected and spoilt ballots.
He urged the first-time voters to exercise their franchise based on policies and development such as health care, education, infrastructure development, and graduates unemployment, and not receive gifts from politicians to change their voting decisions.
