Dambai (O/R) Nov 7, GNA – Mr. Charles Gyamfi Boateng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, has commissioned an ultra-modern surgical theatre for the Dambai Health Centre located at new junction.
The facility was constructed by Messrs Charlie G. Boat Enterprise at the cost of GHC346,104 and funded by Gulf of Guinea Northern Region Social Cohesion (SOCO), through the Municipal Assembly of Krachi East.
The facility that consists of a two-bed capacity theatre block with two-unit wards, is expected to offer critical healthcare services to residents from Dambai and Asukawkaw enclaves of the Krachi East Municipality.
Mr Boateng expressed gratitude to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for listening to the municipality’s pleas and delivering a state-of-the-art surgical theatre to take care and reduced referral cases to other facilities.
Addressing the public, the MCE announced that documentation was underway to upgrade the facility into a polyclinic, adding that the upgrading would significantly enhance healthcare services in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti region.
Mr. Amin Abdul-Muttalib, Municipal Health Director, welcomed the commissioning of the facility, saying it would boost the healthcare services in the area.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Adul-Muttalib said the facility would improve healthcare delivery and specialized medical care to the community and surrounding areas.
Dr. Mavis Marfo, Medical Superintendent of Dambai Health Centre, expressed optimism about the impact of the new surgical theatre on healthcare delivery in the area.
She said patients would no longer incur costly expenses for referrals to distant facilities, and that the theatre would provide healthcare services to a broader population and enhance accessibility.
Dr. Marfo said the theatre would enable local healthcare professionals to perform specialized surgeries, reducing the need for referrals and quality medical care as well as leading to better patient outcomes.
Mr. Obuaba Yakubu, Assembly member for Dambai old-town, also expressed relief and gratitude for the facility.
“The surgical theatre will take some burden from us, sometimes, our people come to us at midnight, asking for help to get a vehicle for referral cases, it’s stressful and financially draining,” Mr. Yakubu stated.
Nana Kwaku Beyenor II, the Chief of Dambai, urged residents of Krachi East to reward the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the parliamentary candidate, Mr Michael Yaw Gyato in the December polls as a show of appreciation for the development projects brought to the area, particularly the newly commissioned ultra-modern surgical theatre.
