Ave-Afiadenyigba (VR), Nov. 30, GNA – Ave-Afiadenyigba Traditional Area in the Akatsi North District has been granted Traditional Council status, a significant milestone that will enhance development in the area.
As a traditional council, Ave-Afiadenyigba will have a more formalised structure, with Torgbuiga Gbordzekpor III, the Paramount Chief, as its President and a Traditional Council Registrar, to enable the council to address the administrative needs of the area more effectively.
The inauguration of Ave-Afiadenyigba as a traditional council is expected to bring about numerous benefits, including increased investment, improved infrastructure, and enhanced economic growth, with the institution playing a crucial role in promoting peace and stability in the area.
Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, represented by Mr Baafi Nsiah, the Chief Registrar at the Ministry at the inauguration, congratulated the council members and hoped the new status would be the fulcrum of peace and development for the traditional area.
He encouraged the council to work with the District Chief Executive and the Member Parliament for the area for development and progress.
Mr Boateng assured the newly inducted council that the government would support it with the needed logistics and personnel to assist with administration work, and training for new members to build their capacity to enable the council to operate fully.
He urged the council to register more chiefs and queens in the traditional area so as to have the numbers to form committees to resolve issues in the area and make proposals among others for effective management and administration.
Mr Harry Attipoe, the Registrar of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, urged the new council to take steps to avoid litigation in the area and embrace peace saying, without unity among the traditional authority, there could not be any progress even with the new status as a traditional council.
In a speech read on behalf of Torgbui Nuku Morti VIII, the Awadada of Ave-Afiadenyigba (Dzayime) called on all chiefs in the area to make the memorable day count by continuously showing love and affection to the plights of the citizenry to promote peace, tranquility and development.
He appealed to the chiefs to live above reproach, especially in areas of political party affiliations so as not to tarnish the Chieftaincy institution.
Torgbui Morti also admonished the youth of the area to always accord the needed respect to traditional authorities and asked for circumspection when speaking to chiefs in public to foster peace and love necessary for Ave-Afiadenyigba’s progress.
Some citizens who spoke to Ghana News Agency were proud of the area’s elevation and hoped it would bring progress and development to Ave-Afiadenyigba.
