Barekese (Ash) Nov. 20, GNA – Three Parliamentary Candidates (PCs) in the Atwima Nwabiagya North constituency of the Ashanti region, have agreed to include each other in the discharge of their duties if elected.
Mr Frank Yeboah, the NPP PC, is a Chartered Accountant and Lawyer, Mr Kandiire Joachim of the New Force, an entrepreneur, and Mr Emmanuel Osei Gyamfi, a Senior Manager with the Ghana Health Services (GHS) and Consultant, an Independent Candidate, made the declaration at a parliamentary candidates’ dialogue at Barekese.
It was organised by the District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and aimed at creating interactive platform for the four PCs in the constituency and the electorates, as well as a forum to promote peace ahead of the December elections.
Mr Mba Zechariah Alenbilla of the NDC, was however, absent from the event.
Some supporters, Heads of Departments, Head of security services, religious leaders, Traditional rulers, Artisans, Students, and other social groups, attended the function, asked questions, and expressed their concerns on key developmental issues in the area.
The PCs explained their achievements and plans in education, health, agriculture, economy, employment, infrastructure, and other sectors to the people and appealed for support.
Mr Emmanuel Appiah, the District Director of NCCE, educated the gathering especially, the first time voters on voting procedures and conducts, and stressed the need to maintain the usual incident- free elections in the area.
He illustrated the position of pictures of candidates, their symbols, thumb printing boxes, stamping, folding of ballot papers and other voting steps before, during and after voting in his teachings.
Mr Appiah explained the difference between a spoiled ballot and a rejected one and advised voters to promptly, inform the Electoral Officers on their spoiled ballots if they occur for replacement instead of adding them into the box to minimise the number of rejected ballots this year.
The Director, however, warned against photographing of ballots, filthy language, and other misconducts on the election’s day.
Nana Asare Gyasi, Kyidomhene of the town, who chaired the function, commended the NCCE and the PCs for promoting peace since it corroborated the idea and priority of the traditional council
