Akumadan (Ashanti), Oct. 22, GNA – The Reverend Dr Isaac Asiedu Yeboah, the Akumadan Branch Pastor of the Living Christ Foundation Church in the Ashanti Region, has urged religious leaders to desist from the practice of election prophecies and predictions.
Rather, he advised the men of God to allow them to choose or decide who the next President of the country becomes, by using the ballot in the Election 2024.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akumadan, Rev Yeboah said “the practice of election prophecies and pronouncement of winners is becoming too much and that is unhealthy for our democracy”.
He said God used the “ballot of the people to choose political leaders and governments and we must leave the people to select their choice of leaders”.
Rev Yeboah said, “we can’t continue to make the headlines in every election year by predicting the winner of the General Election” and urged religious and church leaders to restrain themselves on those prophecies and election predictions.
“In fact, it’s the electorate who have the power to decide who becomes the next President of Ghana, and not prophets,” he added.
He said men of God were embodiment of the people and had high influences and trust in society, saying, if those predictions were not stopped or brought under control that could plunge the nation into political violence, and thereby disturb national peace and social cohesion.
Rev Yeboah reminded the clergy and religious leaders that the church and the Kingdom of God could not advance in an environment of chaos and confusion, saying “my church just celebrated its 10th anniversary and we the church has survived all these years because of the prevailing peace of the nation”.
He emphasised that no human activity could thrive in a chaotic environment, saying “even both the NPP and the NDC and Ghanaians in general need peace to co-exist”, and called on the clergy and Christians in general to pray fervently to strengthen the peace of the nation.
Rev Yeboah also advised the electorate to make informed decisions when they go to the ballot and choose the right leaders capable of turning round the fortunes of the country and to build a prosperous nation.
