Accra, Oct. 27, GNA – Dr Victor Abbey, a Corporate Leader and strategy and Leadership Consultant, has urged professional administrators and consultants to have an ethical mindset to transform their workplace.
He said, “When we are the change at work, it will encourage others to change as well, adding that ethical attitudes go hand-in-hand with discipline.”
He was speaking at the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants – Ghana’s (CIAMC) 48th National Mandatory Continuing Professional Education and 23rd Graduation and Induction ceremony in Accra.
The CIAMC is a professional body of administrators and management consultants, established in 2001.
The event was on the theme: “Ethical Discipline In The Practice of Administration And Management Consultancy”.
He said professional administrators must look beyond and take the ethical discipline path of positivity, adding that ethical values must be instilled in children at home and at all educational levels
He said they must build and drive a positive, progressive and robust culture right from the onset during establishment and recruitment process to ensure effective ethical leadership.
He said administrators must understand the generations they are working with, their orientation and how they operate in the working environment for effective positive outcomes.
He said they must have sustainability in mind and be purpose-driven as management consultants and professional administrators.
He added that we must not compromise tomorrow’s needs by making decisions that do not conform with today’s environmental demands.
He said the challenges of ethical responsibility involved economic, social and environmental issues, saying: “When we are accountable to our actions there will be a thriving business, environment and community.”
He advised that professionals should allow ethical standards to guide their decisions to sustain business and define who they are.
He said good ethics was about doing the right thing within a moral framework, saying the most common impediment to ethical conduct is human nature since people tend to behave according to perceived personal interest.
Dr Abbey urged organisations and consultants to be abreast with technology to take advantage of the online market space, interact with others and engage to sell their brands at the firm and individual level to prospective clients.
