Tokuroano (O/R) Oct 29, GNA – The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the Flagbearer
of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to provide living allowances to Divisional and Paramount chiefs across Ghana if elected as President.

He explained that that would enhance their welfare as well as recognize the vital role traditional
authorities play in national development.

Dr. Bawumia said the allowances would improve the overall well-being of traditional leaders,
enabling them to focus on community development in their respective areas.

He said the living allowances would empower chiefs to effectively discharge their duties,
promote peace and foster development to accelerate community projects.

Dr. Bawumia said this at Tokuroano, a farming community under Krachi East constituency
where chiefs, religious leaders, Islamic bodies and other dignitaries met with him during his
regional tour.

Nana Obuanya Kwadwo, the chief of Dormabin praised Dr. Bawumia for recognizing the vital
role traditional authorities play in nation-building.

He commended him for his humility and willingness to collaborate with traditional leaders and
urged him to amend the Chieftaincy Act to restore some powers to traditional authorities by
recognizing their marginalization in governance system.

Nana Kwaku Beyenor II, the chief of Dambai, echoed Nana Kwadwo’s sentiments, saying, “Dr.
Bawumia’s gesture will strengthen the partnership between government and traditional leaders to
drive growth and development.

“This gesture demonstrates your appreciation for our role in nation-building, your commitment
to empowering traditional authorities will forever be etched in our hearts,” Nana Beyenor II,
added.
