Ukraine accuses Russian troops of killing three prisoners of war

Kiev, Sept 3, (dpa/GNA) – The Prosecutor General of Ukraine, has accused Russian soldiers of killing Ukrainian prisoners of war.

An investigation has been launched into the shooting of three Ukrainians in an area near the eastern city of Toretsk, the authority said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.

The Ukrainians had come out of a bunker with their hands up, the office of the top prosecutor said.

“The occupiers laid them face down on the ground and immediately shot them in the back,” the authority wrote, citing videos circulating on the internet.

This is not the first case of summary executions that the Ukrainian authorities have investigated.

The authorities have already recorded more than 60 cases of possible executions during capture.

In total, more than 110 Ukrainian soldiers are said to have been killed in Russian captivity.

The shooting of prisoners is considered a war crime.
