Takoradi Constituency seat is not under any threat — Chairman Basty

Takoradi, Sept. 15, GNA – Mr Justice Maxwell Acquah, First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Takoradi Constituency, says the seat is not under threat, expressing confidence that the NPP will retain the Takoradi constituency seat in the upcoming general elections. 

According to him, the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, was poised up with pragmatic campaign strategies together with the support of constituency executives to retain the seat in this year’s general elections. 

He said: “The NPP’s victory in the upcoming elections in the Takoradi Constituency is certain…. The seat is not under any threat or whatsoever as purported…Yet we will not be complacent until the battle is won.” 

Mr Acquah’s, confidence was expressed in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) was sharp rebuttal to information by local think tank on the constituency that the NPP would lose the next December general polls. 

He talked about development projects executed by the MP within the metropolis with the latest as the handing over a 60-bed health facility for residents at New Takoradi to ensure effective health care delivery. 

“Sekondi-Takoradi road expansion project is on-going, the Kwame Nkrumah Roundabout through to the beach road roundabout is almost completed,” Mr. Acquah said. 

He said through the MP, the GNPC Energy House has been built in Takoradi.  

“The seven-storey edifice, situated on a 11680m2 land area, has a 300-seater auditorium, cafeteria, gymnasium, business center, as well as private office space for lease to prospective companies and other businesses. 

He said the Takoradi constituency branch of the NPP would not relent in reminding voters of the party’s achievements to guarantee a renewal of its mandate for another four years. 

The Constituency Chairman, also known as Chairman Basty, said the people of Takoradi have been voting for the NPP because of the good works the party was doing for the people. 

‘”Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has been winning in the constituency and even at the backyard of the NDC candidate which is New Takoradi because of the development projects initiated in the area by the NPP governments” he said. 

“If over 20,000 residents in the metropolis were able to take part in a health walk organized by the party in the area prior to the NPP’s Manifesto Launch in Takoradi, then it means, Kobby is solid on the ground.” 

He however said: “We still have to work hard and keep reminding people of the good work of the NPP to ensure the party’s resounding victory in the Sekondi -Takoradi Metropolis.”
