Tokor (VR), Sept. 6, GNA – The Ketu South Municipal Assembly has announced plans to present 650 dual desks to schools within the enclave to address their furniture challenges when schools reopen from next week.

The presentation, which to be routed through the Municipal Education Directorate, will give priority to schools with the greatest need for furniture.

Mr Maxwell Koffie Lugudor, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ketu South, in an interview with Ghana News Agency, said the desks procured with District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT-6) funding aimed to enhance teaching and learning environments towards improving the overall quality of education in the municipality.

“We prioritise education and recognise the importance of conducive learning environments. The desks are thus, the assembly’s efforts to support education.

We’ve been receiving reports of furniture needs from the education directorate. As we’re about to begin a new academic year, we find it prudent to get these desks”.

He said the donation would help reduce furniture-related distractions in these schools, improve student comfort and concentration for enhanced teaching and learning to ultimately boost academic performance.

Mr Lugudor said the Assembly recognised other challenges facing the education sector in the municipality which included poor classroom infrastructure and asked the public to exercise patience as the government had pledged its commitment to the development of Ketu South and the country at large.
