Sekondi (W/R), Sept. 1, GNA – Madam Diana Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aseda Foundation, has urged the youth to embrace vocational training to create employment opportunities and a bright future for them.
She made the call when the Foundation donated assorted items including water, diapers, toiletries among others to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital to mark its 25th anniversary celebration.
Madam Adjei said the donation to the hospital was to fulfil God’s word on giving and extending help to the needy and sick in society.
She said: “Healthcare delivery is paramount; therefore, my Foundation saw the need to assist the regional hospital since it deals with most critical cases in the region.”
The CEO said the foundation, with support from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation, had trained more than 2000 young people across the country in vocational skills of their choice.
“Vocational training is no longer meant for those who are tagged as not good in school. Now university graduates and government workers are all venturing into vocational training, so this should tell you that vocational training is making more impact in the lives of people,” she noted.
Madam Adjei appealed to the government and benevolent organisations to support her Foundation to impact more lives through skills training.
Madam Doris Teiko Aquaye, Deputy Head of Administration, Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, who received the items on behalf of management expressed gratitude to the foundation for the kind gesture.
She noted that the items would go a long way to assist the hospital in keeping the hospital premises clean and preventing diseases and infections, and effective health care delivery.
“The hospital spends so much on toiletries to keep the place running, so this act of benevolence will save the hospital millions of Ghana Cedis to cater for other needs in the hospital,” she added.
Ms Evelyn Gylykle, a beneficiary learning bread baking and pastry at Aseda Foundation, expressed appreciation to the organisation for equipping her with the knowledge and skills vocation for self-employment.
“No one can take away the skills I have acquired, and learning a vocation empowers you for the future,” she said.
Ms Victoria Wireko, a graduate of the Foundation, also expressed great joy at how the vocational training had changed her life for the better.
She said: “All hope was lost back then in my village catering for three children was not easy, but thanks be to God and Aseda Foundation for the opportunity given me to stand as an independent woman and support my family financially.”
The 25th Anniversary Celebration was on the theme: “Harnessing Technical Vocation Education Training for Community Development, the story of Aseda Foundation.”
Some outlined activities for the celebration are free sewing and makeup training, health walk and donations, workshops for masters among other activities, and would be climaxed on Friday, October 25, 2024.
