Accra, Aug. 30, GNA – The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to procure 50,000 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras for security agencies for surveillance and security purposes.
He said the CCTV cameras would be installed across the district and regional capitals to assist the Police track criminal activities and aid in minimizing crime across the country.
Vice President Bawumia announced this during a meeting with chiefs, the Clergy, Imams and opinion leaders at Kwabenya in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency of the Greater Accra Region on Thursday.
Dr Bawumia reiterated his stance to reject LBGTQ+ practice in Ghana and, thus, expressed his government’s determination to “defend our culture, values and religion”.
The NPP Flagbearer highlighted some of the policy interventions implemented by the Akufo-Addo-led Government, including the digitalisation of some public sector institutions such as the Passport Office, Registrar General’s Department, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority and Paperless Ports System that had improved the delivery of public services.
“A vote for Dr Bawumia is a vote for a brand new President, a vote for Mahama is a vote for second President, and I believe most Ghanaians like brand new things, not second hand…” Dr Bawumia said amidst cheers and applause by the gathering.
The NPP Flagbearer said he had never been a President before and that a victory for him on December 7 would give him the opportunity to come back to account to Ghanaians, unlike his opponent John Mahama who had been a President before and wouldn’t come back to render his stewardship.
The NPP parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Mr Mike Oquaye Junior, said he had facilitated the registration of 31,000 residents within the constituency onto the National Health Insurance Scheme.
He had also lobbied for the construction of bridges and roads whilst a sod-cutting ceremony would take place for the construction of an Astroturf in the constituency next two weeks to unearth football talents in the area.
