KNUST Admission: Beware of criminal syndicate

By Stephen Asante

Accra, Aug. 24, GNA – The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has cautioned the public to be wary of a criminal syndicate falsely claiming to facilitate admissions for prospective students.

The syndicate operates under the guise of fraudulent email addresses such as [email protected] and [email protected] to solicit payments and personal information from unsuspecting applicants, the University noted.

“All prospective students and guardians should exercise extreme caution and engage with the KNUST Admission Office exclusively to avoid falling victim to fraud,” a statement issued by Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, the University Relations Officer, advised.

The statement was unequivocal that the Management had not authorised individuals, agents or third parties to handle admissions on behalf of the University.

“All admissions processes are managed solely by the University’s official channels,” it said, urging prospective students and their parents to disregard any such fraudulent communications and report them immediately to the nearest police station.

The statement reminded all stakeholders that the official KNUST admission forms could be obtained from all regional post offices nationwide, as well as designated banks, or by dialing *885# in order to follow the prompts to buy forms.

“KNUST remains committed to a transparent and secure admission process for all applicants,” the statement assured.
