Agbedor-Kofe (V/R), Aug. 31, GNA – International Help of Missionaries (IHM) Inc, New York, USA based Foundation, has commissioned a mechanised water system for the people of Agbedor-Kofe, a farming community in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region.
Commissioning the facility on behalf of Mr Donald Maguotta, the President of IHM, Reverend Fr. Dr. Cletus Kwame Forson, a Volunteer and Trustee of IHM, said the facility was a gift from God through human being and that it was funded by IHM Inc, New York, USA, with financial assistance from Peter Stamm, St. Gabriel’s Society, Students and Parishioners of Sacred Hearts Glendale, New York, USA.
He advised the beneficiaries to use the facility judiciously as underground water was the purest source of drinking water as it was not contaminated.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Forson asked them to practice the “Pay as You Fetch” system so that the revenue generated could be used to pay electricity bills and maintenance of the facility to prolong its lifespan and for generations yet unborn to also come and benefit.
The Trustee also urged the community members to support each other no matter how little it was, just like Mr. Donald Magoutta had done.
Mr Peter Stamm, a Teacher and Financier, said they heard of the community’s plight and decided to support.
He said they had been identified as part of Ghana and that the water would improve their standards of living and their economic activities.
Mr Stamm advised the schoolchildren to make use of the water facility and learn hard to become responsible citizens.
Torgbui Satsi III, the Chief of Adzonkor, commended IHM Inc. for the facility, saying it was a dream come true as they tried, but to no avail.
He said the community initiated a CHPS compound project, but it was stalled and appealed for help to complete it.
The facility is valued at GH¢70,000.00.
