EC urges voters to participate in the ongoing exhibition exercise

Sunyani, Aug. 23, GNA – Mr Ernest Opoku, the Sunyani Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), has urged eligible voters to participate in the ongoing Voter Exhibition Exercise.

That would enable them to check and ensure that their details were well and accurately captured in the voter’s register, in order not to be disenfranchised in the December 7, polls.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a visit to some exhibition centres in Sunyani, Mr Opoku highlighted the relevance of the exercise, saying it would pave the way for the voters to correct any inaccuracy of their personal information captured in the register.

So, the entire exhibition exercise would clean and facilitate a credible voter register for the December 7, polls.

Mr Opoku said 257 centres had been created in the municipality for more than the 118,000 voters in the provisional register to check their details, reminding them that the exercise would end on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

He said the exercise had been going on in the municipality smoothly without hitches and challenges, saying voters such as the people with disabilities who could not visit the centres could check their information through the mobile phone short “code *711*51#”.

During the visit, the GNA noticed that turnout in the exercise was poor as there were no queues at many of the centres visited.

Meanwhile, voters in the municipality expressed their willingness to participate in the exercise.

However, they said the time to visit was a challenge.

They expressed the hope that their names and personal information had been captured correctly in the register.

Others said they had already used the EC’s short code to check their personal information.
