Accra, Aug. 23, GNA-Ghana’s Black Princesses as part of preparations towards the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, held Mexico’s El Tricolor to a goalless draw at the Centro Deportivo Choquenza on Thursday.

Both sides yearned for an opener in the early minutes but failed to capitalize on their chances after several attempts.

Salamatu Abdullai had Ghana’s first chance in the 28th minute but her effort could not scare the Mexican goalkeeper as it went far from the goalpost.

The shot stopper, Afi Amenyaku was also brilliant in between the sticks with some impressive saves to cement her lines.

After recess, the two teams improved and pressed on with new tactics hoping to break the virginity of the game.

It was Ghana’s skipper Stella Nyamekye who saw her chance beautifully dealt with by the goalkeeper a few minutes into the second half.

The game ended barren after 90 minutes of impressive play.

The two teams used the friendly to fine-tune their squad ahead of the tournament.

The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup would kick off in Colombia from Saturday, August 31 to Sunday, September 22, 2024.

The Black Princesses would open their campaign against Austria on September 2 before taking on Japan and New Zealand in the other Group E matches.
