Istanbul, Oct 10, (dpa/GNA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, criticized Israel’s complete siege of the Gaza Strip, accusing Israel of violating the human rights of the more than 2 million Palestinians who live there.
“Currently, no water is provided to Gaza. There is no electricity. What about human rights?” Erdogan said in Ankara on Tuesday.
Israel announced a total blockade of Gaza, cutting off electricity, water, fuel and halting food supplies. The move came amid heavy Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, in response to violent attacks launched by the Islamist militant group Hamas.
Erdogan, on Tuesday also criticized the decision by the United States, to move an aircraft carrier to the eastern Mediterranean during the conflict.
“What are US aircraft carriers doing in Israel?” said Erdogan, calling it a step toward perpetrating “serious massacres.”
